野生生物摄影年度大赛:"动物行为:所有其他动物的"赢家

U.S. photographer Amos Nachoum said he spent almost two years “fishing” for the perfect shot of a breaching great white shark. Nachoum's patience finally paid off when he captured this predator attacked the “bait” being towed behind Nachoum's boat.

The rubber decoy mimicked a seal in seas patrolled by sharks. The area is known as the Ring of Death and surrounds Seal Island in False Bay, South Africa. Great whites come here specifically to target seals, which the sharks ambush from below. These attacks are “always unexpected and over in less than a second,” Nachoum said in a statement.

Competition judge Rosamund Kidman Cox praised the winning photo for displaying “the incredible power, size and streamlined efficiency of a top predator—and it's pin-sharp, too, which is amazing when you realize the speed at which the great white is exploding out of the water.”
