Sondershausen, Germany, November 17, 2007—Cyclists zoom through a former salt mine as part of the 21st Extreme Mountain Bike Race held in eastern Germany.

Around 50 bikers proved they were worth their salt as they raced through the 2,624-foot-deep (800-meter-deep) mine, where temperatures can reach 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius).
